at Brannan Cottage Inn
This
charming Victorian Country Cottage, listed on the National Register
of Historic Places, was built in the 1860's. It is the only structure
built by Sam Brannan for his Calistoga Hot Springs Resort still
remaining at its original location. An intriguing personality,
Brannan was San Francisco's first millionaire. During his lifetime
he became a newspaper publisher, real estate speculator and purveyor
of mining supplies during the 1849 California Gold Rush. Brannan
was fascinated with the hot sulphur springs of the northern Napa
Valley, and he was determined to create a great Spa, rivaling
the resorts of the East Coast. We present six charming, comfortable
and airy rooms, all named after named after somewhat obscure names for the colors in each room: Periwinkle, Rose, Amber, Sage, Lavender and Celadon.. All of the rooms have been designed with your comfort in mind and include queen sized beds, private baths and their own entrance. Air conditioning and ceiling fans keep the rooms pleasantly cool during hot summer days; fireplaces keep five of the rooms warm on cooler days. Oak floors harmonize with antique pine or dark hardwood furniture or white wicker pieces. Cuddly down comforters and white lace curtains add to the Victorian charm. Clock radios and refrigerators in each room are contemporary concessions to comfort. Fresh flowers are everywhere to brighten your stay. Relax and enjoy a glass of port with chocolates in the evening, or on Fridays, join our local winery wine tasting event on the patio from 5:30 to 7 pm. Our multi-course, full breakfast is served each morning from 7:00 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. in the dining room, or outdoors on the patioi, weather permitting.
